What is the Sea Paddle NYC?
The Sea Paddle NYC is a worldwide SUP charity event that serves as the Surfers’ Environmental Alliance primary fundraiser. The 25-mile race was established in 2007 and takes place in one of the largest cities of the world, New York City. The race includes both Prone and SUP divisions with elite paddlers participating. The paddlers cruise around Manhattan for not only competition, but for a great cause. Between paddler fundraising and corporate sponsorship, this event raised over 2 million for both environmental preservation and various autism nonprofits. This year, the event takes place on Saturday, August 5th, meaning it’s just days away!
We couldn’t be more excited to be apart of it, even in a small way. The 2015 winner, Corey Taylor, plans to race his custom Ian Balding paddle board in this year’s race. Corey would succeed with any board under him, however he chose to have one of our customs built for him. We’re thrilled to attach our name to such a large and beneficial SUP event like the Sea Paddle NYC.
If you’re looking for your own winning board, Ian Balding specializes in building boards that are custom for you, according to your height, weight, age, and abilities. We are stoked to hear we nailed it for Corey, and would be stoked to nail it for you too! Reach out to us and we will have you ready for the next race! For a list of upcoming races, click here!
